(More customer reviews)I'm surprised there are no reviews of this book. I'm only about 200 pages in (of 500) and it's already way better than the Sybex book on 70-640. The main difference is that this book covers server core whereas the Sybex book doesn't even mention it! I can't believe that! Before I read this (but after I read all of Sybex 70-640) I didn't even know about server core. Only was it after I was going through a 70-60 Q&A (800+ questions) did I realize I was not ready for the exam.
The author goes into detail about all aspects of the 70-640 requirements. You can tell he focused more on the technology rather than how the test is set up and this and that which is what is needed. I set up a virtualbox "lab" on my home AMD quad-core computer. This is extremely helpful in going through the book as you can have multiple versions of 2k8 installed and running all on one machine. I have two server 2k8 machines and one server core machine (just download the trial win2k8 from MS and you can install any version for "x" number of days).
I'm not done with the book but I am happy so far. I only expect the rest to be as good as the first 4 chapters.
Edit: It's been many months since I read and passed this exam. I had to take it twice (be sure and get an MS 2nd shot voucher). This is a good book but you'll want to read a 2nd book for sure. But, I'd say that about any other book too. Here is another good resource for info: techexams.net. Good luck!
