This is a great book. Epidemiology is one of the most difficult topics because it requires an understanding of difficult and subtle mathematical approaches but also must have direct relevance to population health. Most people, even scientists, use epidemiologic jargon without understanding it, such as the pervasive confusion of 'incidence' and 'prevalence'. This text will not only explain these terms, but goes well beyond and illustrates their relevance and use with real world problems and situations. Dr. Rossignol is a Harvard trained epidemiolgist and has carried out epidemiologic studies around the world. Her experience and knowledge shine through. It's the best current text on the topic.
