I ordered two books from the Critical Reading Series and have been thrilled with both of them! They are great tools for middle and high school teachers. My students absolutely love the stories...they are captivated by the detail and description. These books provide many follow-up activities including charts to measure comprehension as well as reading speed. Each story also focuses on a specific reading strategy to strengthen the students' comprehension. Main ideas and details, compare and contrast, inferencing and summarizing are a few of the great reading strategies illustrated in these books. Each story contains pictures, facts, and interesting details for the students. They are eager to read these stories and write wonderful responses to what they have read. There are so many books in the Critical Reading Series that teachers of many different subject areas can utilize them in their classrooms. These are truly terific resources to teachers of many grade levels. Students are intrigued by the stories and strengthen their reading skills through the many activities presented in the books.
